For customers looking for that little extra, there is a VIP service available at Hamburg Airport, where for an additional charge, passengers can be pampered and enjoy celebrity treatment. This involves a separate check-in, terminal-side parking, a VIP bus (where necessary) and access to a quiet lounge, where you can soak in the panoramic vistas of the apron and airborne planes.

Shops, Duty-Free and Retail Outlets


Hamburg Airport has reasonable shopping facilities within its four terminal buildings, with most opening daily between 09:00 and 21:00. On Level 1 of the Pier and Airport Plaza, shops open a little earlier, at 06:00. In total there are roughly 50 different shops, with fashion stores including the likes of Airport Outlet, Attitude, Hermes, Ladywa, Navyboot, Temptation and Tom Tailor. For gifts and souvenirs, consider visiting Boutique du Chocolat, Destination Hamburg and Heinemann Duty Free, while those in search of some inflight reading material should check out K Presse & Buch or Relay Presse.

Bars, Cafés and Restaurants


There are numerous places to eat at Hamburg Airport, based within both the public and security areas. Eateries in the public area includes bars and coffee shops such as the Air Hamburg Cafe Himmelschreiber, the Alfredo Bar, Bistro Modellschau, Dallmeyers Backhus, the Sashimi Sushi Bar and the Vino Bar. For something more substantial, restaurants come in the form of the Filini, Marché, Mercato, Mövenpick and Oliva.

Within the security area, a similar selection of eateries await hungry passengers. Here you can choose between Blue Corner, Cindy's Diner, Kaffeebar Lafino, the Marché Bakery, the Sashimi Sushi Bar and San Pino, amongst other dining options.

Business services on offer at Hamburg International include an Airport Conference Centre (ACC) within Terminal 2, where some 14 air-conditioned meeting rooms are accompanied by projectors and other state-of-the-art equipment, as well as catering and secretarial services. WLAN Internet access, fax machines and payphones may also be of assistance to business travellers trying to connect with colleagues and customers. For foreign currency exchange, options include:

  • Avanticom (Terminal 2, Arrivals Level), open daily - 04:00 to midnight

Persons with reduced mobility (PRM) are catered for well at Hamburg Airport, with assistance be available at all stages. However, prior notice to your airline is always advisable and very much appreciated. Special transport services are laid on by the German Red Cross (DRK), allocated parking spaces for disabled drivers are close by, and easy wheelchair access is everywhere. Passenger assistance from the 'Mediservice' part of the German Red Cross can be requested, along with wheelchairs. Those flying with Lufthansa should report to the special counter for passengers with restricted mobility, where you may be able to board quicker and more easily.

Other Facilities


Other facilities at HAM include good first aid facilities, as well as a well-stocked pharmacy (Apotheke). Also onsite is a hairdresser (Hair Society), a baggage repair service (Klockmann), postboxes, acupressure massage, shoeshine, a Christian chapel and a small casino (Spiel-In), which is open daily from 04:30 until midnight.
